Near Puerto Vallarta, but not in it
Punta Mita is in the state of Nayarit, not Jalisco, and it feels quieter and more resort-like than the city. Many guests combine villa days with day trips to Sayulita or town.
Getting there
Getting to Punta Mita means flying into Puerto Vallarta, and the airport and the roads around it are changing: Terminal 2 was about 66 percent complete in May 2026, and the Amado Nervo bridge across the Ameca river was about 90 percent complete in mid-2026 and is expected to shorten the crossing between Puerto Vallarta and the Nayarit side. Treat both dates as projections and plan on the airport as it is today.

The towns around it
The village of Punta de Mita sits just outside the gates, and La Cruz, Bucerias and Sayulita add markets, restaurants and day trips. Many guests anchor the week in the villa and add a day out.
