Sayulita Vacation Rentals: The Honest Booking Guide

The short answer: Sayulita rents everything from $100-a-night casitas to $2,000-a-night view villas, and the variable that decides your week is location versus noise. High season (December through April, plus holidays at a premium) books early; green season is lush and cheap. Book walk-to-town if energy is the point; book the hills if sleep is.

The guide I give friends before their first Sayulita week.

The three rental Sayulitas

  1. Downtown and the flats: roll out of bed into the town: surf, breakfast, galleries, margaritas. Also: music until late, roosters at dawn. Perfect for groups who came for exactly that.
  2. Gringo Hill and the view slopes: five minutes up, ocean views, breezes, quiet nights, a walk or golf-cart ride to everything. The sweet spot for families and anyone over the all-night soundtrack.
  3. The edges, north beach and jungle sides: private villas with pools, real quiet, a short drive or long walk in. Book here for the house itself.

Seasons and pricing logic

High season is December through April: ideal weather, the town at full festival energy, prices at full strength, the best houses booked months ahead. Christmas through New Year and Semana Santa are their own premium tier. May, June, and November: the insider window. July through October, green season: jungle at maximum, rain in the afternoons, the best prices of the year, and the surf still works.

What to check before booking (the local checklist)

Air conditioning in every bedroom, not just "fans available." Water: good houses have proper cisterns; in late dry season this matters. Noise honesty: ask exactly how far from the plaza and the beach bars. Beach choice: the main beach is the scene; Playa de los Muertos, a short walk south, is the calm family swim. And book the house with reviews that mention the staff by name, on this coast that detail predicts everything.

Beyond the house

Surf lessons at the main break, La Lancha runs for real surfers, horseback to hidden beaches, a boat day to the Marietas. A good week here is the house plus two well-chosen plans.
